Road Trip to Pondy – After the lockdown

The Covid Pandemic had many of us sit at home like house arrest. For people like me who love to travel it was a heavy blow being at home and with work from home scenarios it was getting monotonous and painful. Once the lockdown started easing out, we started going out to visit close families and friends who are comfortable in receiving guests maintaining all precautions like wearing masks, washing hands etc. We were waiting to go on atleast a day trip and when things started easing out we planned for a day trip to Pondicherry from Chennai.

We planned to start around early morning so that we can reach back Chennai by evening. We started around 6:30 AM and reached ECR around 7:30 AM for breakfast at Sangeetha’s. That’s our go to restaurant for breakfast and their dosa’s are to die for. After breakfast we headed to one of the beaches in ECR where there was less crowd. We made sure the social distancing and masks were worn all the time. We had a good time at the beach playing in the waters and decided to drive to Mahabalipuram. Since the tourist spots are not yet open we just drove around the sculptures and headed all the way to Pondicherry.

Whenever we go to Pondi or through ECR we have this small spot called Luxor (not sure who built it but it look cute and reminds me of my Egypt Trip) where they sell fresh tender coconut. We stopped there for sometime to refresh and have tender coconut.

We headed directly to Tanto’s for lunch at Pondicherry. Thats always been our go to restaurant for Italian food in Pondi. We had some amazing Pasta, Lasagne and finger food. Tanto’s does allow pets inside so its been easier for us to travel with our buddy Meow. After Lunch we drove back to Chennai and reached home for dinner.

It was a good drive after months and months of lockdown at home and good to see things come back slowly to normal but the new normal. Please make sure you wear mask all the time and avoid crowded places if you are planning to go out. It was also a much needed break for out doggy baby as she was always used to travel and after months of being at home she enjoyed the most. Detailed post on how to travel with pets will be out soon, so keep reading 🙂
